Context

The harpoon head has been given the provenance of Nootka Sound, but someone has questioned this on the catalogue card, suggesting it may be Eskimo. The form and carving of the harpoon head does indeed suggest a provenance of Eskimo (G.Crowther).The original European tribal names and, where possible, current tribal names have both been given in separate GLT fields.
