Stone mortar made from heavy black stone, possibly basalt.; Good
Context
Original label although hard to decipher gives the provenance of the mortar as Fort Simpson. The original European tribal names and, where possible, current tribal names have both been given in separate GLT fields.; A letter from D.J.Allen Curator of Wisbech Museum in 1948 (CUMAA Archive 1 Letters 1948, 18th December) records the object as A cooking pot but provides no further information.
