Very finely woven basket ?hat that has a band, and a conical top. It is a rich brownish red, with two black bands. There is a hole at the tip of the cone.; Good
Context
This object was originally catalogued as Californian, but was reclassified after being seen by Sandra Newman (basketry expert, 1983) and Travis Hudson (curator of Santa Barbara museum, 1984). Although it has been definitely identified as not being Californian it does not appear to be characteristically Northwest Coast either. It has been left in this category because I cannot accurately assert an origin (G.Crowther).
