Description

A brass bracelet which is C-shaped and decorated with incised diagonal, parallel and crossed lines.; Good

Context

The original European tribal names and, where possible, current tribal names have both been given in separate GLT fields.; Before the arrival of silver (approx. 1798) on the coast copper, brass and iron were worked and worn as bracelets necklaces, and anklets. It is possible this bracelet, together with E 1910.34 and E 1910.35 are from this earlier period. In the nineteenth century such bracelets were the standard medium of potlatch payments among the Kwakiutl (G.Crowther).
