Context

The decoration on the bracelet is reminiscent of the carved bracelets of mountain-goat horn made by the Coast Salish, suggesting an early date of manufacture, and a style which was overtaken by the elaborately carved silver bracelets bearing crest designs (G.Crowther). The original European tribal names and, where possible, current tribal names have both been given in separate GLT fields.; Bracelets were usually worn by women, and were frequently given away in large numbers at nineteenth century potlatches (G.Crowther).
