Description
Large spoon or ladle made from mountain-sheep horn which has turned a rich golden brown through use. The spoon is made from one piece of horn, with the handle decorated on the front and reverse. the decoration is carved in the form of two creatures, one at the tip, the other extending onto the base of the bowl.; Good
Context
The original European tribal names and, where possible, current tribal names have both been given in separate GLT fields.; The large ladles were usually eaten from by several people, rather like a bowl. Similar to the spoons the ladles were used during feasts and potlatches, demarcating the special from the mundane (G.Crowther).; Collected in ?1889
