Context

The catalogue card states, A B) from Hammond on the Frazer River, about 50 miles from the mouth, and C) from Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island, about 30 miles from Victoria. Therefore the adzeheads are Coast Salish in origin. The original European tribal names and, where possible, current tribal names have both been given in separate GLT fields.; The adzeheads would have been lashed to wooden handles for use, probably being used for wood working (G.Crowther).
