Description

House post carved in the form of an upstanding bear with outstretched paws and an open toothy mouth .; Good

Context

The figure is known informally in the Museum as 'Hector' and this seems to date from Margaret Risbeth's childhood (A.C. Haddon's grandaughter). Margaret remembers hugging his legs as one would a teddy bear, though she says he was not very cuddly.. Stories that her Christmas presents wre left by Hector's feet are unfortunately untrue.
