Comb Item Number: Ie339 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

A comb of yellow wood, roughly rectangular in shape. Nine teeth are running parallel to the longitudinal axis. The long teeth are 14 cm. long and have been shaped to be roughly round in cross-section. At the opposite end, there has been cut an indentation shaped like a flattened v, with each side measuring 6 cm. The remaining solid wood surface has been incised with a pattern of diamonds and transverse lines. The smallest diamonds have been painted red.

Used by men as a hair ornament and for combing hair.
