Coiled, rectangular basket with bundle foundation on sides and bottom, and split stitching. Design is of alternating rows of patterned beading and plain rows. Patterned beading is black and red-brown. There is one row of plain black beading around base. Rim is slightly damaged.
Traditionally, baskets were used for a variety of domestic purposes, but starting in the mid-19th century, many basketry goods were made as sale items to provide a source of cash income.
