Description

Flared cylindrical basket with foot and twisted loop work at rim. Bifurcated stitches and watch-spring construction. Imbricated geometric design of checkerboard diamonds in dark cherry bark and grass, and light red cherry bark and grass. Foot imbricated with half checkerboard diamonds in same.

History Of Use

Traditionally, baskets were used for a variety of domestic purposes, but starting in the mid-19th century, most basketry goods were made as sale items to provide a source of cash income.
