Description

Amber coloured bowl of moulded, resinous material with a scaly dragon carved on the outer surface. The dragon is raised from the surface of the bowl. Crack on one side has been repaired.

Iconographic Meaning

The word amber means soul of the tiger. Amber is symbolic of courage and is also used as an aphrodisiac. The dragon is symbolic of divine power. A dragon carved on a dish gives its power to the contents and is sometimes used as a warning against gluttony.
