Figure depicting Tarawet as a hippopotamus with a tail of a crocodile. She is standing on a rectangular platform and has her arms at her sides with her left foot in front of her right. Below a loop with a hole that extends from side to side is a tail represented with a tapering shape that has indented diagonal lines on both sides.

History Of Use

Probably an amulet.

Iconographic Meaning

Tawaret is the divine nurse and protector of children; she also guarded the souls of the just in the other world.
