Description
Small round basket. Circular base has warps radiating from a centre point with a spiral design. Base is demarcated from the walls by a row of stitching. Walls of wrapped twining have two decorative bands each consisting of seven rows: two yellow-brown, one green, one yellow-brown, one green, and two yellow-brown. Rim is finished in a braid-like weave.
History Of Use
Basketry filled a vital need as containers for storage domestic use and transportation of goods. Some had multiple uses; others were made for specific functions. After European contact, used for trade and sale items. Forms have been altered to meet European tastes. Basketry making was and is a women's art.

Specific Techniques
Base of basket is 2 ply plain twining, z-twist. Spiral pattern in twill twining. Basket walls are wrapped twining. Warp ends bent to inside and secured by row of twining.
