A small glazed ceramic saucer whose form curves up sharply from an unglazed foot. The base is recessed. The coarse body is a light yellow-brown where exposed. Glazed translucent and mainly clear, tinged with grey-green but pooling occasionally to a blue. Exterior is plain. History Of Use

Belongs to a class of vessel called ""hole-bottom"" in reference to the peculiar recessed base. These were intended for export, many of them being found in the Philippines. One possible reason for the construction is that they were meant to be fitted to a standard and used to hold an oil lamp.
