Description

Small collapsible spoon made of two pieces that join at the centre, and rotate around a central point in order to collapse in half. (The spoon fits into one of the bamboo tubes attached to 529/12 a.)

History Of Use

Used to transfer the powdered tea from the tea container to the tea bowl. Typically, tea scoops are made of a narrow, thin piece of bamboo, about 18 centimetres in length (originally made from ivory). Sometimes stored in a bamboo storage tube (tsutsu).
