Boots Item Number: 426/30 a-b from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Pair of boots with molded goat leather soles and turned up toes, attached to woven goat wool and dark red cotton uppers with vertical strips of blue cotton running up the back. Lined with coarse wool.

History Of Use

Typical men's or women's Ladakhi footwear is adapted to the predominately dry and rocky paths found in the area. The goat leather sole is very tough and the turned-up toe is useful for walking over stony ground. The wool uppers keep the foot warm.
