Teapot Item Number: 1223/4 a-b from the MOA: University of British Columbia


A shallow cylindrical metal teapot known as khog ting (ཁོག་ལྟིང།) with a curved spout. The rotating handle is attached with a triangular and folded tear-drop-like piece. Both sides of the handle curve outward and the top is horizontal with bulbous features. The circular lid is two-stepped and has a knob at the centre.
This teapot is a multipurpose vessel. It may be used for tea or for chang (Tibetan Barley Wine). In Tibet, a vessel like this can also be used to transport water to pour into the bowls.
