Description

Sash-like belt for a woman's under-kimono. Woven pink and white fabric has pink and white embroidered stripes and a band of white flowers embroidered down the length.

History Of Use

The date-jime is used as a waist belt for the nagajuban, or under-kimono.

Narrative

Kimono set acquired by donor in 1970, while she was involved with missionaries in the village of Ueda; she wore the kimono for special cermemonies while residing in Japan.
