Description

Indonesian slit gong or Kentongan wood drum carved in the shape of a dragon-like figure with a cylindrical shape body and a flat bottom. The top has five triangular protrusions with an incised dragon head detailed with ears ?, spikes, large protruding eyes, incised nose and a central flower motif. Through the middle of the body is a large slit opening that leads to a hollow interior; opening is in the shape of the creature’s mouth with teeth the entire length. The body of the drum is the body of the dragon carved in relief with scales and claws. There is a hole drilled through the head for hanging.
