Description
Armband for the lower arm, woven so that one end has long warp tassels from end of pattern while the other end is looped with cord running through the length of the warp.
History Of Use
Worn by men and women, around the lower arm, near the wrist.
Narrative
Bought from the "Los Alamos" shop in Lima, run by an anthropologist Gertrud Brausburger de Solari. Made by the Mayoruna or a related tribe. The Mayoruna live in widely scattered groups along the Rio Javari, which over much of its course marks the boundary between Brazil and Peru.
