Description

Strands of slightly irregularly sized water buffalo and yak bone beads are threaded on a thick string with carved medallions of bone dividing the strands into lines of two, three, or sometimes four. There are fourteen square medallions, one diamond shape, one pointed oval, and one five-sided piece. Carved decorations include dots, flowers, spirals, and human figures.

History Of Use

Ritual bone objects such as bone bead aprons, breast covers and ornaments are worn as funerary dancing clothes in Tibetan Buddhism.
