Coin, circular with a four-sided hole at the centre, and a rim around the outer edge and centre hole. Obverse has four characters, and the reverse has two characters. Xianfeng tongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in formal style Chinese characters on obverse; boo fu left-right (mintmark) in Manchu on reverse. Dot top-right reverse; outer rim not completely round; extra metal inside centre rim; rough fields, rims.
