Description
Coin, round, with a four-sided hole at the centre, a rim around the outer edge and a centre hole. The obverse has four characters, and the reverse has one character. Hongwu tongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in Chinese characters on obverse; gui top (mintmark), Chinese character on reverse. Holes through fields top-right, top-left, bottom-left; rim widths uneven; extra metal in centre hole; reverse fields uneven, partly raised.
History Of Use
Normal sized circulating coin. Issue of first Ming emperor.
