Description

Small white hide jacket with embroidery and fringe. The jacket has a wide collar, short sleeves and fringe on the bottom hem. Two thin hide pieces are threaded through the centre, extending as ties on both sides. Floral bouquets are embroidered on the collar and cuffs in pink, purple, yellow, blue and green. White ermine fur trims the collar and cuffs.

One of two jackets made for Colonel James Kennedy Cornwall's daughters, Catherine and Norah.

Specific Techniques

Brain tanned caribou skin (not smoked). Embroidered pieces sewn on afterwards.
