History Of Use

Iro tomesode (色留袖; coloured tomesode) is a style of formal kimono worn by married and unmarried women, on formal occasions such as weddings. Tomesode have short sleeves and patterns below the waist line, usually on the lower part of the garment, and family crests (mon or kamon). It is rather unusual for this type of kimono to be made of bright red fabric.
