Description

Human skull inside a knotted fibre bag. Skull without the lower jaw; 4 teeth left in the upper jaw. Inside a knotted net bag made of a stiff plant fibre, with several loop handles.

Narrative

It is unknown how the collector came to possess this skull, but it is thought to have been obtained during his years in Formosa (Taiwan). James Davidson's daughter said he "had his hand tatooed by headhunters" while there.
