Round, square hole in centre, inner and outer rims on both sides, four Chinese characters on obverse with lines from each corner of the centre to the rim; design of dragon and flowers/plants engraved on reverse.
Design similar to a coin, but too large to circulate; a charm with a good-luck message (Larson, David). Most likely used by the common people as ornaments for hanging and display on festive occasions such as New Year, the emperor's birthday, or at the beginning of a new reign (Li, Min).
