Description

Vertical rectangle plaque with a curved top. There is a hole at the centre of the curved top end and characters on both sides. There is a seal at bottom on the face with two columns of characters and two incuse characters inside. There are two or four incuse characters at the bottom on the reverse.

History Of Use

Bronze pass tag for entry into a palace, Jin dynasty (late 12th/early 13th). The exact purpose of the passes is not entirely clear, but this one seems to have allowed the bearer entry into the palace of one of the Princes of Jing.
