Description
Round coin with a four-sided hole in centre, and a rim around the outer edge and centre hole. The face has four Chinese characters, and the reverse has five. Xianfeng zhongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in formal style Chinese characters on face; boo yuwan left-right (mintmark) in Manchu; dang wushi top, bottom (value 50) in Chinese on reverse. Two small holes opposite each other at the rim. File marks visible on rim.
History Of Use
Large size circulating coin, value 50 cash coins. Higher value, due to inflation and military payments during Taiping uprising.
