Description

Round coin with a four-sided hole at the centre, and a rim around the outer edge and centre hole. The obverse has four characters, and the reverse has four characters. The recessed areas have a copper-like finish. Xianfeng tongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in more relaxed style Chinese characters on obverse; boo fu left-right (mintmark) in Manchu, er bai top, bottom (one-hundred=value 100) in Chinese on reverse. File marks evident on rim.

History Of Use

Large size circulating coin, value 100 cash coins. Higher value, due to inflation and military payments during Taiping uprising.
