Description

Round coin with an angled rim, a four-sided hole in centre, and a rim around the outer edge and centre hole. Both faces have four Chinese characters. Xianfeng zhongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in more relaxed style Chinese characters on obverse; boo fu left-right (mintmark) in Manchu, er bai top, bottom (one-hundred = value 100) in Chinese on reverse. Character shan (mountain) incuse on obverse rim, and character ? incuse on reverse rim. File marks evident on rim, which has flaws and pits.

History Of Use

Large size circulating coin, value 100 cash coins. Higher value, due to inflation and military payments during Taiping uprising.
