Description
Round coin with a four-sided hole at the centre, and a rim around the outer edge and centre hole. The obverse has four characters, and the reverse has four characters with a further four characters stamped in the rim. Xianfeng zhongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in more relaxed style Chinese characters on obverse; boo fu left-right (mintmark) in Manchu, wu shi top, bottom (five-ten=value 50), er liang wu qian right-left-top-bottom in Chinese on reverse. File marks on rim.
History Of Use
Large size circulating coin, value 50 cash coins. Higher value, due to inflation and military payments during Taiping uprising.
