Round, square hole in centre, inner and outer rims on both sides, four Chinese characters on obverse, two Chinese characters on reverse.

History Of Use

A coin-like charm, which could have circulated (Larson, David). Part of an incomplete set (some provinces are missing while some are duplicates). Probably commemorate important events or festivals such as New Year, or the beginning of a new reign. Minted as a set representing each province, analgogous to the Canadian minting of quarters to celebrate the millennium. Each obverse has a phrase addressing the imperial cosmology, social mobility, or personal enhancement. The reverse has the name of a province (Li, Min).
