Coin, round, with a four-sided hole at the centre, a rim around the outer edge and the centre hole. The obverse has four characters, and the reverse is blank. Hongzhi tongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in Chinese characters. Narrow, round rims; rim pits; file marks; reverse raised around centre hole.
