Round charm with a four-sided hole at the centre, and a rim around the outer edge and centre hole. One face has four Chinese characters. The reverse has a design of a dragon and a phoenix above waves.

History Of Use

Design similar to a coin, but too large to circulate (Larson, David). Most likely used by the common people as ornaments for hanging and display on festive occasions such as New Year, the emperor's birthday, or the beginning of a new reign (Li, Min).
