Description
Coin, round, with a four-sided hole at the centre, a rim around the outer edge and a centre hole. The obverse has four characters, and the reverse has one character as well as a nail mark. Hongwu tongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in Chinese characters on obverse; zhe top (mintmark), Chinese character on reverse. Nailmark right vertical on reverse; holes through field top-right, right-bottom; mould broken left, right obverse; centre hole irregular; rim pits, flaws.
History Of Use
Normal sized circulating coin. Issue of first Ming emperor.
