Narrative

This kayak was built at the Northwest Territories Pavilion at Expo '86 in Vancouver, BC. The NWT government wanted to donate the kayak to MOA following Expo '86, after it was launched in False Creek on August 2 during Baffin Island month. One of the makers is thought to be Elijah Erkloo, former Mayor of Pond Inlet and member of the Northwest Territories legislative assemblies. Elijah is shown on the back of the 1974 Canadian $2 bill in an Inuit hunting scene.
