Description

The textile is woven cotton with thick brown and white stripes. On both sides of the thick brown stripes there is a thin white stripe. On both sides of the thick white stripes there is a brown and white woven border of circles, triangles, lines and dots. There are two finished edges, partially intact.

Narrative

Rosita Tovell's father was a collector of Peruvian pre-Columbian ceramics. Rosita moved to Peru in the early 1960s, while her husband served as ambassador to Peru and Bolivia. During this time Rosita began to study and collect pre-Columbian Peruvian ceramics and textiles.
