Description

Textile is brown and woven with a geometric pattern in the centre. The pattern has two small, red squares above and below a large red diamond. The red shapes are on a background of half green and half brown, surrounded by a cream border. There are random squares of red and cream on the brown textile around the central pattern. The edges of the textile are irregular.

Narrative

Rosita Tovell's father was a collector of Peruvian pre-Columbian ceramics. Rosita moved to Peru in the early 1960s, while her husband served as ambassador to Peru and Bolivia. During this time Rosita began to study and collect pre-Columbian Peruvian ceramics and textiles.
