From bottom, figures include: raven, Dzunuk'wa, Bookwus, man holding frog, sea bear holding killer whale, Thunderbird with a whale on its chest.

The pole was carved by Ellen Neel in the summer of 1955 at her Ferguson Point studio. The Thunderbird with a whale on its chest is the Neel family crest. She was assisted in the carving by her sons Robert, Dave and Ted Neel. The pole was carved in Stanley Park, then moved to Edmonton Alberta, where it was erected at Woodward's Westmount Mall store. Woodward's donated the pole to the UBC Museum of Anthropology in 1984 where it was restored by Ellen Neel's son Robert. The pole was then installed at Brockton Oval in Stanley Park, where it is on long term loan to the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.
