Description

Dark blue earthenware tankard on flat base with pewter mount, straight tapering sides, loop handle, pewter rim mount and domed hinged lid. Three horizontal bands with white floral scrollwork in centre, scale motif either side, on handle and adjoining rim.

History Of Use

This tankard is decorated with the fish-scale design believed to have been derived from early sixteenth century Turkish Ottoman art.
