Description

Long cream cotton men’s shirt. The shirt has a round neckline, long sleeves and full lower half. The centre front partial opening is trimmed with narrow bands of red, black and green embroidery and white scalloped edging; fastened with a brown plastic button and loop. The end of the sleeves are finished with blue knotted edge stitching and orange beads. Small, multi-coloured embroidered medallion worked in counted cross stitch on the back of each sleeve, just above the elbow. Sleeves are close fitting at the armhole. Entirely hand-sewn. The inside is unlined.

Narrative

All items in An858 were collected by the donor while she was a member of an archeological field team near Bjelavici, Yugoslavia (now in Bosnia), northwest of Sarajevo, during the summer of 1968.
