White baluster shaped jug on a flat base with splayed foot, narrow tubular spout at shoulder, flat loop handle mid neck to mid body, wide cylindrical neck with flanged rim. Coat of arms at base of handle, cartouche beneath with "SY.DE.D.RAD" inscribed.

History Of Use

The inscription Sy·de·d·Rad stands for syrupus de duabus radicibus, referring to a diuretic syrup prepared from the roots of fennel and parsley. The symbol below the handle is probably that of the pharmacy.
