Description

Rectangular white earthenware wall cistern (wall fountain) on flat spread base, straight sides, round opening at top with inverted rim, loop handles at back. Blue and yellow flowers on sides. In front inset pillars and mound, panel with "1637" above, "H" and "S" at spigot.

History Of Use

This water fountain (wall cistern) would have been accompanied with a matching basin and contained rosewater for washing the hands.
