Description

Woman's very loose-fitting pants made of panels of beige rough-textured linen or hemp and striped cotton flannelette, from waist to knees, and of off-white waffle-weave cotton from the knee to the ankle. The two legs are joined together by a square of beige linen or hemp, positioned with two opposite corners at centre front and centre back. Drawstrings made of softly twisted strips of cotton fabric at the waist and ankles. Hand sewn.

Narrative

This garment, part of a Christian woman's costume, was collected by the donor while she was a member of an archeological field team near Bjelavici, Yugoslavia (now in Bosnia), northwest of Sarajevo, during the summer of 1968.
