Belt Item Number: Sf1149 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Belt woven with frog, bird and donkey patterns in red and light brown with a green border. One end is finished with several long strands of dark brown wool, and the other end is composed of tangled lengths of weaving wool.

Narrative

Bought from Luz Marina Bejar de Ventura and her husband Fredy Ventura in a stall in the Cuzco Indian market on May 4, 1982. The style indicates it was made in one of the villages in the outside region above Ollantaytambo--perhaps Kachin?
