Description

Earthenware dish (container) in the form of a tri-sectioned light green leaf with three yellow lemons in each section, attached to the leaf by a green stem (part a). The oval lemon lids (parts b-d) have three white flowers and leaves luted to convex tops. The interors and leaves are light blue-green.

History Of Use

These three lemons are an attempt to imitate similar wares made of porcelain. Produced at the Glinitz factory, originally in Silesia. (The village of Glinitz is now known as Glinica and is in Poland.) The factory was founded in 1767 by Countess Anna Barbara von Gaschin.
