Tapa Cloth Item Number: 1448/17 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Long narrow decorated tapa (masi) with designs in black and brown. The design is two blocks (pairs) wide and seven long, each pair containing similar flower-like central designs with wide geometric borders around the whole set of blocks. The flowers are of two types, one with oval petals and the other with diamond-shaped petals. One side has a thin striped fringe, the other has a border of lengthwise lines. The ends are serrated. The cloth is made of two pieces attached together; one is thinner than the other.
