Description
Cabbage shaped earthenware lidded container (box) painted in shades of green and blue-green, with reddish leaves at base. Leaves are attached to a white interior bowl. The lid (part b) is green with a cherry and leaves.
History Of Use
Responding to an eager market, and following patterns established at the Strasbourg factory in France, the Holíč factory produced remarkable lifelike pieces like this one which imitates fruit and vegetables. This fine example of modelling was further distinguished by the brightness of the colours used.
